How to not be annoying on tumblr

I dread catching up on tumblr. My friends tumblr posts mainly consist of the following:

  1. Re-blogs from people you don’t know in real life. We can follow them ourselves.
  2. Personal diary. I’m not interested in why you cried today.
  3. Funny pictures from the internet. I’ve already seen all of them on reddit. If it’s viral, then everyone’s probably already seen it before you have.
  4. Photography. If it ain’t yours, then don’t post it. If it is yours, post it onĀ flickr instead of tumblr. It’s the right audience. Knowing art doesn’t make you artistic or creative.
  5. Quotations. That’s what a quote book is for.
  6. Thoughts on every freaking subject. I don’t need to know your opinion on every little thing.

Things I enjoy on tumblr:

  1. Original posts. I skip almost all re-blogs.
  2. Re-blogs from people you know. Some of your friends could actually be interesting.
  3. Profound posts. I love HOC’s long introspective posts, but I prefer to read them on a dedicated WordPress. Profound posts are better than a simple question or a shallow paragraph.
  4. Camera shots of adventures. What did you do today that is actually interesting?

But then again, this defeats the purpose of a tumblr since all of this could be done on a WordPress and Twitter/TwitPic. I guess for me tumblr is just an easy way to view twitpics.

In essence, I’ve unfollowed a lot of you cause your tumblr posts are annoying. I’ve already given up on Twitter, especially since people protect their tweets so I have to follow them. Thank God people can’t protect their tumblogs so I can check up on them anytime. Please, stay interesting.
